Consultant Psychiatrist - Learning Disability -Mendip, Highbridge and Burnham

Somerset NHS Foundation Trust are exciting to invite applications for a Consultant Psychiatrist in Learning Disability Community Psychiatry. This is a new post within the service due to the reconfiguration of Learning Disability Services within Somerset.

You will be based at Shepton Mallet Hospital, with a secondary base at Glanville House in Bridgwater. You will cover a total population of approximately 155,000, working alongside the two community teams and the rapid intervention team in Somerset.

The local learning disability services provide community mental health, memory assessment clinics and epilepsy clinics. There is also a 24 hour, seven day per week Rapid Intervention Team who are able to support people experiencing an episode of mental ill health when this is needed.

You will be asked to join the senior out-of-hours on-call rota subject to availability. There is currently a 1 in 11 rota.

This 10 PA post will have a 1.5 Core SPA, further SPA allocation is available for additional activities/ roles as defined in the Trusts job planning policy. Special interests can be developed through discussion and agreement in job plan review meetings.

Requirements
  • MB BS or equivalent medical qualification
  • Mental Health Act Approved Clinician / Section 12 approval
  • Entry on GMC Specialist Register; eligible for entry on Register or within 6 months of receipt of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) at time of interview or CESR.
  • MRCPsych passed
