Job OverviewRef: 100-MED-GGH-228Post: Consultant in General PaediatricsBase: Glangwili General Hospital, CarmarthenSalary: £86,063 - £111,732 Per annumThe Paediatric Service is seeking to recruit a motivated, dynamic, forward thinking Consultant Paediatrician, to join the team at Glangwili Hospital, Carmarthen.This is a replacement full-time post, to support the reconfiguration of the child health service and develop the service in response to the recent centralisation of maternity and paediatric care in West Wales; you will join colleagues in a very dynamic and forward-looking General Paediatrics department. The neonatal service has merged across the units in the 3 counties to enable BAPM standards are met and provide ongoing paediatric training.This post is primarily based in Carmarthenshire with agreement to provide care for children and young people in Pembrokeshire. The SCBU (based at Glangwili) plays its part in the South Wales Neonatal network, with CHANTs providing transport.Main duties of the jobThis full-time position at Hywel Dda University Health Board with be predominately based in Glangwili Hospital with some scheduled clinical commitments on other sites. The split is 7 DCC and 3 SPAs.There will be a requirement to contribute to 1:12 consultant of the ward week, covering acute paediatrics and SCBU along with safeguarding medical referrals.The on call is on spilt weekends on 1 in 8 specific to this job and based at Glangwili Hospital. The clinics duties consist of general clinic in addition to a sub-specialist interest clinics per week as agreed with job plan.Working for our organisationHywel Dda University Health Board is the planner and provider of NHS healthcare services for people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and its bordering counties.   • Four main hospitals: Bronglais General in Aberystwyth, Glangwili General in Carmarthen, Prince Philip in Llanelli and Withybush General in Haverfordwest
  • Seven community hospitals: Amman Valley and Llandovery in Carmarthenshire; Tregaron, Aberaeron and Cardigan in Ceredigion; and Tenby and South Pembrokeshire Hospital Health and Social Care Resource Centre in Pembrokeshire
  • 48 general practices (four of which are managed practices), 47 dental practices (including three orthodontic), 99 community pharmacies, 44 general ophthalmic practices (43 providing Eye Health Examination Wales and 34 low vision services) and 17 domiciliary only providers and 11 health centres
  • Numerous locations providing mental health and learning disabilities services
