Are you passionate about preserving our cultural and architectural heritage? Do you have a deep appreciation for historic buildings and a commitment to their conservation and restoration? If so, I could have the role for you!

As a Conservation Architect at a leading Architectural practice, you will play a pivotal role in preserving and restoring historic buildings across the United Kingdom. You will work on a wide range of projects, from ancient monuments and listed buildings to heritage sites and historic residences. Your expertise will contribute to the protection and enhancement of architectural heritage.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough assessments of historic buildings and structures to evaluate their historical significance, architectural integrity, and structural condition.
  • Develop comprehensive conservation plans that balance the preservation of historical features with necessary adaptations for modern use, ensuring compliance with UK conservation laws and regulations.
  • Conduct in-depth research on the history and architectural styles of the buildings under consideration, contributing to informed decision-making during the restoration process.
  • Create detailed architectural designs and specifications that incorporate both preservation and sustainable design principles, ensuring the longevity of the structure.
  • Collaborate closely with other professionals, including structural engineers, historians, archaeologists, and local authorities, to coordinate efforts and obtain necessary approvals.
  • Oversee the implementation of conservation projects, monitoring progress, budgeting, and quality control throughout the construction or restoration process.
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients, providing regular updates, addressing concerns, and ensuring their vision aligns with the conservation goals.
Your Experience:
  • Qualified Part 3 (will consider other training if enough project experience)
  • Ideally skilled with hand sketching
  • Strong proven experience in heritage conservation and restoration projects in the UK.
  • Strong knowledge of UK conservation laws and regulations.
  • Excellent research and historical analysis skills.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD
  • Effective project management and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to preserving historical integrity.
