How Do We Support Our Employees

Role Context

M&G UK Compliance is responsible for advising and challenging key stakeholders, challenging risks effectively and proactively. Compliance oversees conduct and regulatory risk, providing guidance and challenge to make sure the business identifies and manages these risks wisely, stays within its risk appetite and maintains relationships with regulators.

A vacancy has arisen for a Compliance Consultant within a team that provides compliance advice and oversight to the Heritage (Pru) business on the application and interpretation of regulatory and legislative requirements across a broad spectrum of life assurance and pension accumulation/decumulation products, including occupational (DB and DC), personal pension schemes and public sector schemes.

Key Responsibilities Of The Role
  • To provide compliance advice, guidance and oversight to Heritage business functions (Pensions and Life Insurance) and suppliers. The role will cover regular, business as usual activities and change programmes.
  • To interpret regulatory/legislative requirements, ensuring appropriate actions are taken and controls embedded across the business to achieve compliance, in accordance with risk appetites, management guidelines, standards and policies.
  • To support delivery of the Prudential UK Compliance Plan and to contribute to the Prudential UK Compliance Monitoring Plan where appropriate.
  • To challenge the business in its approach to compliance risk identification, quantification, mitigation and management.
  • To understand and apply external business standards by sharing good industry practice and providing guidance to the business as required.
Key Knowledge, Skills And Experience
  • In-depth, current understanding of the regulatory and compliance requirements for pensions and life products. This must include knowledge and experience of interpreting and advising on FCA and ideally the Pensions Regulator (tPR) requirements and relevant pensions and life legislation.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to assess and interpret complex regulatory requirements, understand the detail and the bigger picture.
  • Experience of providing practical compliance advice and guidance, with clear, informed and robust recommendations to support the delivery of fair outcomes, putting customers at the heart of decisions.
  • Current knowledge and understanding of key regulatory developments affecting the sector (e.g. Consumer Duty, Pensions Dashboard) and experience in regulatory change programmes.
  • Working within project environments and/or the development and delivery of end to end processes and evaluation of processes/outcomes.
  • Experience of building professional relationships with internal stakeholders and external parties, with the ability to liaise, influence and negotiate effectively.
  • Confident in managing multiple stakeholders and informing/influencing decision-making.
  • Able to work collaboratively and to drive progress independently.
  • Strong communication and report writing skills.
  • Working knowledge of public sector pension schemes; Jersey, Guernsey and Isle of Man regulatory requirements is desirable.
