Do you have a way with words and a way with people? You could be just who we are looking for.

At Golden Lane Housing, we work with people with a learning disability to provide supported housing around which they can build their lives. Each year we house over 100 people and now we need you to help get our messages across to the right audience.

Can you keep us on brand, and on message? We need someone to help plan and produce our communication strategy, ensuring our key messages reach the right people at the right time.

You’ll be focused on our digital channels and will be able to write cleanly and clearly, as well as be comfortable liaising with stakeholders throughout the business. Ideally you’ll be able to create and edit video as well, and work with external agencies to make the magic happen. Working under the Communications and Involvement Manager, and working closely with the Tenant Involvement Officer, you’ll lead customer engagement.

We expect our people to be up-to-speed with the current world of learning disability, know about the challenges and realities people face and understand the impact Mencap is trying to bring about.

Initially you will be home based until we can return to our offices safely, however the role is ordinarily based at our office in Manchester.

This role could require travel across England, Wales and Northern Ireland with some overnight stays and the ability to work flexible hours.

Within the role, you will:

  • Develop, maintain and take ownership of a programme of work that will deliver excellent colleague communications
  • Develop and deliver communication plans and content through existing channels and other methods (with a focus on digital communications) to amplify Golden Lane’s business stories to internal audiences
  • Work with the key business and project stakeholders to plan & prioritise communication activity
  • Plan, write and edit content for all communications channels
