Digital & Social Media Lead

Are you a social media or digital strategist? Excel at engaging digital audiences? A strategic thinker? We are looking for a Digital and Social Media Lead to join our expanding team in this BRAND NEW role!

Mencap has a new ‘Big Plan’ - to make the UK the best place in the world for people with a learning disability to be happy and healthy. We need a superstar digital and social media lead to help us make that happen.

The person we need must have demonstrable experience delivering a digital and/or social media strategy for a brand or organisation and share our commitment to fighting for social inclusion for people with a learning disability.

You will be a senior member of the External Communications Department devising and implementing a strategy for our social media channels, online communities and overseeing our website alongside the Head of External Communications. We’re a very collaborative team and organisation – working in agile groups to deliver campaigns and organisational objectives.

People with a learning disability are at the heart of everything we do. You’ll be working closely with colleagues with a learning disability within the team, fundraising colleagues and across the wider Communications, Advocacy and Activism Directorate to deliver an exciting and ambitious new organisational strategy.

Some things you are responsible for:

• Leading the digital team and working closely with the Head of External Communications to deliver an ambitious integrated digital strategy of our external-facing digital channels
• Design and deliver digital marketing activity to meet objectives across all channels, including paid social media and delivering fundraising objectives.
• Ahead of the curve on all new social media developments and trends – and integrating them into our approaches and strategy.
• Making sure all our digital content is on brand, accessible, represents all of the learning disability community, innovative, meets our objectives and is impossible to ignore.

This role will be based at our Centre of Engagement in Central London, but will be home based until we can return to our offices safely. We would consider home based/flexible working applications from suitable candidates that are willing to travel to London when required.
