Communications Engineering Manager

The Role
The LSRC are looking for an experienced Communications Engineering Manager to assist the Service Support Manager in carrying out his/her responsibilities.
You will carry out the main functions as follows and other minor functions to ensure that all systems are maintained, serviceable and available for Operational Tasks at all times:
  • Supervisory Management
  • Communication Systems Maintenance & Inspections
  • Infrastructure Management and Configuration
  • Calibration and PAT Programme Management
  • Training and Development of all System Support Engineers to support Operational Tasks.
Definition:
  • Deputise for the Service Support Manager in his/her absence or when requested to do so.
  • Supervisory Management – Provide advice and guidance to all Engineering staff on LSRC technical practices and procedures.
  • Liaison with External Agencies – Provide advice, support and guidance to external agencies that have CIS and external WAN systems and connections installed in the LSRC (ie JMNIAN, RLI/SLI, AEN, Broadband, MODNET/Telephone Exchange).
  • Communications Systems Maintenance & Inspections - Ensuring that Maintenance and Inspections of Reference and other Communication Systems are carried out in line with the LSRC Equipment Care Policy and other Directives and recorded. This includes managing the PAT and Calibration Programmes.
  • Manage the integrity and configuration of the LSRC technical infrastructure to include copper, fibre, RF cabling and patching system
  • Assisting the SDA in providing advice on the technical design of the LSRC infrastructure.
  • Training and Development – In line with the training requirements for the various roles at the LSRC, ensure that all engineering staff are trained and competent in their roles in order to provide the best service possible.
  • Contributes to the LSRC Management meetings/Configuration Control Board and acts as the Deputy Chairman/Secretary for the Equipment Meeting.
Skills and Experience:
  • HND in Communications Engineering or equivalent.
  • A Systems Engineering background - Familiar with In-Service Military Communications Information Systems and the Maintenance requirements of these systems would be advantageous.
  • Experience of testing communications and information systems.
  • Effective Supervisory Management.
  • Understands SCIDA/TEMPEST Regulations wrt Communications Equipment and Cable Infrastructure Installations.
  • Familiar with Intelligent Patching Systems would be an advantage.
  • Aware of H&S at Work regulations.
  • Aware of ITAR.
  • Security Clearance – Minimum of SC (DV will be required).
