Do a job that makes a difference

Do you want to do a job that matters? Are you looking for interesting and varied work in a friendly team, with flexibility for some home working and loads of job satisfaction? Then we have the role for you.

Based in York, Family Fund is the UK’s largest charity providing grants for families raising disabled children.

We are looking for a Communications and Marketing Officer to support all areas of Family Fund’s Communications and Marketing department. You will develop and deliver targeted, successful and creative Family Fund plans, campaigns, content and evaluations that will drive awareness, income and audience engagement, and contribute to the delivery of organisational objectives.

Other duties include:

  • Work with the Communications and Marketing Manager to create, implement and evaluate communications and marketing strategies and campaigns, across all areas of Family Fund’s work.
  • Write audience-focused, engaging and relevant content - news stories, campaign copy, email newsletters, website pages, external articles, press releases, social media posts and articles for publications and other organisations’ channels.
  • Support wide-ranging internal stakeholders with communications and marketing advice and guidance, and targeted plans to achieve their aims and objectives.
  • Provide editorial guidance, editing and proof-reading to ensure all external content is in line with Family Fund brand guidelines.

To join our team you will need experience of writing content for wide-ranging audiences, for a public-facing organisation. You also need experience of editing and proof-reading the work of others. You must have knowledge of website content managements systems and social media and be confident in using Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are also required along with strong digital communications skills and editing and copy writing skills.

In return, we offer the chance to work right at the heart of a supportive, professional team, where you’ll make a positive difference to families in need, every day. As a member of our staff, you’ll receive a contributory pension, access to our employee discounts scheme, and the opportunity to work days from home, with flexible start and finish times.
