JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: Communication and Marketing Lead

HOURS: 37.5 hours per week (some out of hours/opportunity for hybrid role)

REPORTS TO:CEO

SALARY:£26,000 to £30,000 depending on experience

LOCATION:221 Hagley Road, Stourbridge, DY8 2JR

The nature of the job may require some travel. Travelling expenses will be paid for travel incurred in the course of duty.

JOB PURPOSE:
As the Communications and Marketing Lead you will oversee, coordinate and execute the communications and marketing function to support the hospice strategic aims; manage the hospice brand and extend our brand awareness to maximise our reach in a proactive way and plan and implement innovative ways of working that future proof and prepare the Hospice for the changing ways the public and healthcare interact. The
Communications & Marketing Lead will play a pivotal role in enhancing the Hospice’s public image and communications strategies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Devise and implement a Communications and Marketing strategy that supports the hospice strategy and ambitions.

2. Ensure that best practice is the norm and support the wider hospice teams in utilising and adhering to brand and communication guidance.

3. Manage the hospice brand, ensuring compliance and consistency across the organisation.

4. To manage and oversee all publications and marketing materials to promote the services of the hospice, ensuring that the copy and creative concepts conform to brand guidelines.

5. Manage the hospice website working alongside external providers and manage social media platforms.

6. Be responsible for designing, managing, and leading on and co-ordinating the communications for national campaigns such as Hospice Care week.

7. Develop and manage an internal communications platform/intranet.

8. Create engaging and inclusive content for social media, website, and additional hospice publications to maximise reach and engagement (internal and external communications).

9. To work in partnership with all departments and take strategic leadership from the

Senior Leadership Team.

10. Create good work relationships with the media and manage responses to press enquiries.

PERSON SPECIFCATION:

1. Demonstrate a proven desire and ability to positively contribute to a high performing, value-driven team culture.

2. Has skills, knowledge, and good experience of assimilating complex information to create compelling communications that raise awareness and build strong effective, and valued relationships across a wide range of organisations to influence and develop collaborative agendas.

3. Good critical thinking and decision-making skills, with a track record of developing strategic communications, brand development and campaign management.

4. Work with hospice colleagues to identify communications opportunities and actions to help protect and enhance our reputation.

5. Has digital skills and experience in website management (specific platform used at

MSH – wordpress).

COMMUNICATIONS:

1. Devise and implement a planned external communications programme that maximises opportunities to increase the hospice profile, including media communications.

2. To advise the CEO and Senior Leadership Team on communication opportunities and risks.

3. To ensure a tailored strategic approach is adopted in line with all hospice priorities.

MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. To embed a positive culture and programme of internal communications within the hospice so that all teams are aware of an engage in the need to market and share impactful stories.

2. Ensure that patients, visitors, volunteers, and staff are managed in a way that makes them feel valued and supported in their story telling process.

3. Manage all risks relating to communication and PR.

4. Establish effective recording systems for information, monitoring and evaluating all communication programmes and marketing activities.

5. Produce reports and analyse data including audience reach and demographic statistics as required.

6. Be responsible for an annual communications and marketing budget.

7. Adhere to media law and legislation including copywrite, intellectual property and

GDPR.

Person Specification – Communications and Marketing Lead

ESSENTIAL DESIRABLE

Chartered Institute of Public

Relations.

At least 3 years’ experience in a communications or
Chartered Institute of marketing role.
Marketing (CIM).

KNOWLEDGE,

QUALIFICATION &Experience of working in the
National Qualification in

EXPERIENCEcharity sector.
Journalism (NQJ).

Graphic Design experience.
Recognised qualification in marketing.

Ability to communicate with a range of audiences.

Experience of managing several complex projects at any one time.

Good organisational skills with the proven ability to use research as the basis for implementing plans and activities.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCEExcellent interpersonal skills.

Creative thinking and a proactive approach to problem solving.

Experience in editing website hosting platforms.

Excellent writing, editing and communication skills with a focus on attention to detail.
