Reporting to the Customer Finance Senior BP this pivotal role acts as Business Partner to the Digital Director and team and the Chief Information Officer and Technology team. The role is one of decision support providing, analysing and interpreting management information in order to influence key commercial decisions. This role is an integral part of the Commercial Finance team, and as such sits alongside its customers on the trading floor

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial ownership of sales, margin, net profitability and capital spend for digital and technology teams.
  • Dedicated Business Partner to Digital Director and CIO with cross functional involvement with all Commercial functions, e.g. Trading, Marketing, Customer and HAC in order to deliver the optimal sales and profit position
  • Understand current digital trading performance vs outlook, providing insight and challenge where appropriate, and highlighting risks and opportunities
  • Support the rolling forecast process, highlighting risks and opportunities so that we always understand the likely full year outturn, and are aligned with business objectives. Feed this in to the quarterly forecasting and budgeting process
  • Evaluate strategic and tactical commercial proposals, monitor performance to ensure performance is on track, and perform PIRs to deliver sound conclusions and learnings
  • Provide insight to steer commercial decisions using tools such as Net Net profitability and the digital dashboard
  • Influence the digital teams to capitalise on opportunities and minimise potential threats by identifying and highlighting trends, and understanding the long-term impacts of commercial decisions
  • Support monthly review sessions with the Digital Director CIO and team
  • Support and develop the finance analyst

Key Skills/Experience

  • Qualified Accountant (CIMA/ACCA etc.)
  • Graduate calibre
  • Initiative and drive with an inquisitive nature
  • Ability to drive insight from data
  • Strong communication skills (articulate, confident with strong influencing skills)
  • Confident in making recommendations & conclusions
  • Ability to work flexibly at pace
  • Commercial awareness
  • Previous Business Partnering experience, preferably in Retail, FMCG
  • Explaining Finance to non-Finance colleagues
  • Advanced Excel Skills
