As our Transactional HR Team Leader you’ll play a key role to support the Group Shared Services Manager in the following ways:

  • Be responsible for day-to-day management and delivery of the Transactional Team according to governance, processes, policies and agreed service level agreements. The role will be required to continually seek ways in which operational efficiency can be achieved in order to provide outstanding support to the business and key stakeholders.
  • Ensure the Transactional Team supports the business with all transactional aspects of our colleagues’ journey from recruitment, promotion or secondment, family friendly leave to exiting the business by producing contracts, letters and maintaining colleague records.
  • Act as a mentor for the Transactional team providing support and guidance where required and act as the initial point of escalation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To lead and manage the delivery of the administration and onboarding activities carried out by the Transactional Assistants.
  • To promote the correct use of Dayforce across the business and train managers to utilise effectively.
  • Drive the continuous improvement agenda and review all transactional processes to ensure right first time and remove duplication of process.
  • Ensure all transactional tasks including the production of reports including leavers, fixed terms contracts and secondments are completed in line with GDPR & SLA’s.
  • To develop, coach and support the Transactional Assistants to ensure high standards and performance levels including excel and adhoc training such as mail merges.
  • Manage escalated queries and issues, monitor feedback and make improvements to the overall service.
  • Ensure right to work compliance across Halfords Group.
  • Upskill and develop Transactional Assistants to provide succession opportunities into a Junior ER Advisor role.
  • Oversee the day-to-day management of the People Support inbox to ensure tasks including production of contracts/ offers, references, administration of maternity leave is managed within agreed SLA’s.
  • Review contracts prior to issuing to ensure compliance and accuracy.

Key Skills/Experience

  • Strong HR Administration management experience ideally from within a shared service environment with a sound knowledge of Employment Law.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and influencing skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills, always meeting deadlines and self-motivated with good attention to detail.
  • Customer focused and service oriented.
  • Experience of managing and prioritising own workload in a high volume, demanding environment with changing priorities.
  • Works with pace and accuracy, staying focused on the detail.
  • Experience in building and maintaining strong relationships with teams and stakeholders.
  • Experience and confidence in challenging as well as supporting managers.
  • CIPD qualified.
  • Fun, team player who works collaboratively for the success of the wider team.
  • Deals with highly confidential information with tact and diplomacy, 100% discreet.
  • Confident communicator, comfortable communicating with employees at all levels, flexing your style as necessary.
  • Able to balance priorities with the ability to handle the day-to-day workload as well as projects.
