Who are we looking for?

We are looking for a new Commercial Finance Analyst (Digital) to join our Finance team at Cambridge Education Group (CEG).

The role is on a full-time, permanent basis with the location either in Cambridge or Newcastle (United Kingdom), depending on your preference.We operate under a Hybrid Working schedule – with the possibility to work 2 days in the office and 3 days working from home.

Within this role as a Commercial Finance Analyst, the post holder will be working with the CEG Digital division’s Finance team to support and challenge the Digital Sales & Marketing team with all aspects of generating profitable sales for the business. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate commercial experience, with analytical thinking and financial acumen.

The role is responsible for producing the content of the weekly strategic meetings with the Executive and Senior Management teams, presenting the weekly sales updates and providing perspectives on performance trends. The role is also responsible for coordinating the targets that feed into the Budget and Reforecasts as well being a key role in providing data reporting and analytical support.

The role will be the key role for ad hoc analytical support for CEG Digital Trading – in part exploring areas based on their intellectual curiosity and supporting specific requests from their colleagues within the S&M team.

Whilst there are existing processes for the production of reports, analysis and targets it is a genuine opportunity for the right candidate to make this role their own and put their stamp on future development.

Key responsibilities as a Commercial Finance Analyst (Digital):

  • Develop robust modelling to create stretching but achievable Targets in collaboration with the Sales and Marketing team.
  • Create ROI analysis for specific projects, marketing activity or lead generation spend to help shape future strategy.
  • Lead the annual Price setting process (and support any new business proposals as appropriate).
  • Produce quality and insightful analysis on business performance, presenting sometimes complex information simply and compellingly.
  • Produce and develop the weekly Trading Pack (a summary of the latest Sales performance) evolving it to reflect new partnerships.
  • Hold a pre-Trading meeting with the senior Sales and Marketing team on a weekly basis.
  • Be a trusted voice in the Trading Meeting with the Executive and Senior Management teams, providing perspectives on performance trends, present weekly updates and analysis and proactively identify and analyse opportunities and risks.
  • Coordinate the targets that feed into the budget and reforecasts; reviewing expectations by the centre, programme, course advisor, lead generation, etc.

Key person specification:

  • Educated to a degree level, preferably in Economics, Business, Mathematics or related field. (essential)
  • Commercial experience demonstrating analytical thinking and financial acumen. (essential)
  • Used to working to tight deadlines and working alongside senior directors. (essential)
  • Analytical thinker with natural intellectual curiosity. (essential)
  • Someone who loves working with large groups of data to produce insightful analysis. (essential)
  • Advanced level of Excel (essential) and Power BI experience (desirable but training can be provided).
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with cross-functional teams and individuals. (essential)
