Applications are invited for Clinical Research Fellow post in the the Psychiatric Imaging Group of Imperial College Institute of Clinical Sciences, Faculty of Medicine.The Group works in close collaboration with researchers at the Institute of Psychiatry (IoP), Kings College London. The IoP is the largest psychiatric research institution in Europe and the Psychosis IRG was ranked world leading in the most recent research assessment exercise.

Duties and responsibilities



  • To undertake research studies, contributing to on-going studies and developing new studies in discussion with Prof Howes

  • To undertake appropriate administration tasks

  • To attend research meetings and seminars within the group and at scientific conferences

  • To undertake any necessary training and/or development

  • To plan and write future research proposals for funding and fellowship applications under direction

  • Compliance with intellectual property rights, the Data Protection Act 2000, COSHH Health and Safety Guidelines within the Laboratory and all other relevant College policies, including Financial Regulations, Equal Opportunities Policy, Promoting Race Equality Policy, Health and Safety Policy, Information Systems Security Policy and Intellectual Property Rights and Register of Interests Policies

Essential requirements



  • Must hold a GMC registration

  • Clinical experience in a relevant discipline (eg Psychiatry)

  • Knowledge of database software (eg Excel) and statistical analysis

  • Experience of problem solving in research project (s)

  • Ability to develop effective working relationships with all levels of staff and work in multi-disciplinary teams

  • Ability to organise and manage research projects, particularly in psychiatry

  • Proven track-record of publications in relevant, high-quality peer-reviewed journals (eg leading psychiatry or imaging journals)
