Job OverviewThe Forensic CAMHS (FCAMHS) team in Somerset is seeking an experienced clinical psychologist to provide a lead psychological role in the team to cover maternity leave for 12 months. There is a strong possibility that this post will be extended after the maternity leave cover.Main duties of the jobFCAMHS is an exciting and dynamic team that sits alongside Somerset CAMHS, and covers Somerset, Devon, and Cornwall. We specialise in supporting professionals working with young people who present with forensic risks and complex mental health and/or neurodevelopmental needs, through risk formulation and intervention. Our aim is to help teams understand risk from a psychological perspective and improve outcomes for vulnerable young people; and we have many cases where we have done this successfully. There is also some direct work with young people through specialist assessment and intervention.Direct FCAMHS experience is not required. We are looking for individuals with relevant skills and expertise that they could apply to this leadership role. Experience of working in CAMHS, Children’s Social Care, learning disability services, or forensic services, would be an advantage. A large part of the role is supervision of multi-disciplinary professionals and consultation with stakeholders to ensure effective case management. Therefore, confidence in using a team approach to conceptualise complex cases with other professionals, and to make suggestions for interventions is highly valued.Working for our organisationThis role provides important psychological leadership, promoting psychological thinking within a multi-disciplinary team approach. The team consists of nursing, social work, psychology, and psychiatry colleagues. We have a shared caseload approach, where reflective practice and peer supervision is prioritised. Supervision for this post is available from the wider CAMHS psychology team. A bespoke training package is available for any developmental needs. There is a great deal of autonomy to manage your own caseload and approach to the work – creativity and new ideas are encouraged!The team operates mainly core hours 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.
