Job OverviewSomerset Foundation Trust is a trailblazer site for the national Community Mental Health Framework. We are dismantling the traditional barriers to accessing help, while expanded the mental health provision. The vision is to create, with our NHS colleagues, expert by experience, voluntary care sector partners and other community resources, a mental health ecosystem that supports the well-being and recovery of people with mental health difficulties in Somerset. This is called ‘Open Mental Health’ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MdooCvn9zpg&t=5sA key aspect of the clinical leadership in Open Mental Health is provided by Psychologists. As the psychologist in the locality team you will provide direct client assessment, formulations and psychological interventions and therapy. In this role you will have the opportunity to work with other key partners in the alliance to deliver innovative packages to address client’s needs. In addition, you will guide and supervise the work of Assistant Psychologists and Clinical Associate Psychologists who deliver a range of psychological interventions. The post holder will offer clinical supervision, consultancy and advice to staff to inform a client’s care. Your network would also include being part of the Specialist Psychological Interventions group of psychologists and psychological therapist who have a wealth of expertise in CAT, CBT, Art and Systemic Therapy.We are looking for an experienced, energised and inspiring psychologist to join Somerset Foundation NHS Trust and as well as experienced psychologists, we welcome applications of newly (or nearly) qualified candidates who will be supported to pursue a progression route to a 8A role.This post would be well suited to someone who is enthused by working in new ways, helping to re-define how we offer mental health care, in a Trust that has won the HSJ Mental Awards for delivering this vision.This is a substantive post with the base in Wells. The Trust has well earned reputation for investing in their staff with further training to develop you as a clinician, therapist or clinical leader.You will work with the principals of co-production, inclusion, equality and accessibility. The Community Mental Health services are on a journey to developing a trauma informed care approach to how care is delivered. At it’s heart this is recognising the role of adverse experience in people’s lives (both clients and colleagues), and providing care that is trauma aware, safe and responsible and collaborative.Main duties of the job- As an HCPC registered psychologist you will work within the community mental health pathways providing psychological assessment, formulation and therapy to adult and older adult patients with complex co-morbid physical and mental and emotional health problems.
- This will include the provision of highly specialised psychological assessment and interventions, comprehensive risk assessment, supervision and consultation to other team, as well as contributing to team training of staff.
- The post holder will lead and contribute to service development and evaluation. Liaison with a wide range of partners is central to the role.
- The post holder will work within a Community Mental Health Service that has challenged the traditional boundaries between primary and secondary care in partnership with Service Users and the Voluntary Sector and Community Enterprise.
