Job content

We are looking to recruit a Registered Nurse or Allied Health Professional who has a good level of knowledge in relation to cancer care and who has recent experience of working closely with adults with a cancer diagnosis. The fixed term contract is for 2 years and the post holder will deliver the Right by You project in a small geographical area of Portland/Weymouth in West Dorset.

The post holder will be able to work autonomously and also be an effective team player. They will demonstrate expert communication skills and have experience of managing a small caseload of patients.

They will be expected to work between community and clinical settings as well as some working from home. The post holder must have a drivers licence and be willing to use their own vehicle for this role. Expenses will be paid in line with Trust policy.

The post is 30 hours a week and this can be worked over 4 or 5 days, depending on the needs of the service and the post holders preferences.

Right by You (RbY) is one of Macmillan’s major strategic ambitions and aims to transform the provision of care and support for people living with cancer across the UK. It will test models of care that aim to provide joined up, holistic support, across all settings, i.e. in a hospital setting, a primary care setting such as a local GP practice, a community setting, a person’s home, a local community venue (such as a local library), or via a digital platform. The programme aims to ensure the needs of every person diagnosed with cancer are assessed and they are navigated to the help and support they need.

The post holder will be fully supported by senior staff from cancer services at DCH as well as other key staff working on this project which is being delivered in collaboration with colleagues in Southampton who are hosting another RbY project.
