Seven Social Care is looking for an experienced Child Protection Conference Chair to fill an exclusive position in Bradford Metropolitan District Council.

As a Child Protection Conference Chair, you will prove independent chairing of child protection conferences / Young Persons Safety (contextual harm) Plans and statutory reviews of Bradford children looked after children/ in house foster carers and some strategy meetings.

Key Responsibilities:

· Ensures that all there is a robust, SMART Child Protection Plan for each child, which is developed within the Conference process and involves the whole family and associated professionals.

· Involves children and young people in the decisions that affect their lives and supports them to attend Child Protection Conferences where appropriate.

· The post also has a quality assurance and auditing function and the postholder would be involved in monitoring the quality of practice both in individual cases and for specific groups of vulnerable children e.g., children with a disability.

· Child Protection Chairs track cases in between conferences and raise alerts when there are concerns about cases, for example drift and delay in the implementation of the CP plan using the PQA Escalation procedure.

· Liaise with social worker about progress of the case and reasons for coming to Conference, ensure that young person has been consulted; read reports and ensure all appropriate professionals invited can attend.

· Ensure families have seen all reports in advance of the meeting.

· Manage complex, often fraught, multi-agency meetings that include and involve families and young people where appropriate.

· Be responsible for the decision to create a CP plan for a child or young person and balance the risks and needs for each family.

· Ensure planning is outcome-driven, SMART, robust and time-focused.

· Complete decisions and SMART Child Protection plan on ICS and share with social worker/Core Group and family within 24 hours.

· Liaise with relevant professionals to ensure plans are progressing, raise any practice issues with professionals and within the management structure.

· Monitor practice and quality of each CP conference and reflect any issues.

· Contribute to the authorities’ auditing process, including peer audits.
