Do you want to put your laboratory and plant operations experience into practice on a Nuclear Power Station? Do you have an interest in AGR chemistry in our industry and want to put your lab analytical chemistry skills to the test?

As a Chemistry Technician you’ll provide key support to our Operations department, carrying our routine analysis as well as other fundamental tasks to help in the smooth and efficient day-to-day running of plant.

Pay, Benefits And Culture

We can offer a competitive salary from £30,650 to £46,963 and you’ll be appointed based on the parameters outlined in the Company Agreement as well as your existing salary, competence, experience and qualifications. This is a full-time position, however we will be happy to discuss options regarding part time flexibility and job share if you would like to highlight this on your application.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll need an understanding and experience in quality control and assurance practices within a laboratory environment, so that you can add value to the support our site chemistry programme. You’ll be responsible for routine Chemistry analysis (water and oil systems), stock control and the maintenance of laboratory equipment.

Part of the role will also involve working with Chemistry Engineers to investigate plant issues and provide support to the Operations department. Instrumental techniques such as UV-VIS spectroscopy, gas chromatography, ion chromatography, pH, Conductivity and dissolved Oxygen are all used on site and so will be part of your every day.

Who You Are

Ideally you’ll have working knowledge of the nuclear industry or have experience in another highly regulated environment. You’ll have minimum qualifications of GSCE (or equivalent), any qualifications HNC level or above would be advantageous but not mandatory.

High standards of Laboratory housekeeping and quality assurance is a must as your role will be centred on providing technical support to the onsite Chemistry programme. You’ll be pro-active in nature, dealing with technical issues that may arise in a prompt manner.

You’ll show great enthusiasm towards your role, and you’ll work exceptionally well as part of a Team but also individually. You’ll showcase a determination not only for individual success, but that of the wider Team and overall department and business objectives.
