Commis Chef £24k DOE, Plus tips Bridport, Dorest Relocation help may be offered A Modern British restaurant and bar with nine bedrooms is searching for a commis chef to join their passionate dynamic team. Set on a small cliff overlooking the English Channel, the 60 cover restaurant has the most spectacular view. We are a looking for people with a knowledge and appreciation for food and drink who are striving to build their career in the hospitality industry. The position will be made up of split and straight shifts, around 45 hours per week. The owners would like their chefs to have a good work/life balance. This is a beautiful part of the country to be working, and could be a great opportunity to be part of a growing establishment. Main Job Responsibilities
  • Maintain a high standard of specified work in accordance with the senior chef’s instructions.
  • Prepare, cook and serve food delegated as your responsibility, ensuring that the highest possible quality is maintained and that agreed standards for food preparation and presentation are met at all times.
  • Be able to work under pressure in a heated environment, have the ambition to succeed and above all show a willingness to learn and take instruction from the senior chefs
  • Assist with the daily deliveries, storage and preparation of ingredients
  • Run a section through service under the guidance of a senior chef
  • Aid in achieving food cost, kitchen standards and overall objectives.
  • Carry out daily and weekly procedures, including temperature checks, food labelling/dating and storage.
  • Assist on other sections or help with other duties when the kitchen is short staffed, in emergencies, and/or when number of covers require
  • Adhere to company procedures in regards to temperature checks, food labelling and dating, cleaning schedules and hygiene regulations at all times ensuring that all records of such are maintained.
  • To be punctual for work and report directly to the senior Chef on duty on arrival in the kitchen and to keep high standards of personal hygiene at all times.
  • Keep high standards of cleanliness on section where employed, also to assist in any job regarding hygiene or cleanliness asked for by a senior chef
  • Be familiar with the opening and closing procedures of the kitchen and to be fully aware of all Health & Safety procedures, hygiene control and chemicals used in the work place. In the course of your employment the Head Chef will teach you an understanding of menu planning, the implementation of stock controls, the importance of good stock management, and how this enables the kitchen to meet gross profit. We will also facilitate further training in house or out to help achieve higher qualifications.
