Job Summary

Are you a BABCP accredited CBT Therapist seeking a new challenge in 2024? Would you be interested in a fixed term contract?

We are seeking a BABCP accredited CBT therapist in Bridgwater Community Mental Health Services, Specialist Psychological Interventions. You will be joining a vibrant team of psychologists and psychological therapists including fellow CBT therapists, CAT therapists, Art therapists and Family Therapists

This is a great opportunity to join a well-established network of psychological therapists and psychologists integrated with wider community mental health services, in order to develop skills, build relationships and learn more about the trailblazing Somerset mental health services.

Main duties of the job

You’ll offer a specialist CBT assessment and therapy service for individuals, some, or all of whom have severe and enduring mental health problems and may present with complex and challenging psychological problems. A focus on a collaborative and strengths-based approach is essential to this role.

There is also the potential to provide or contribute to specialist group CBT or psycho-educational groups if required. The role will also include patient-based CBT consultancy and advice to staff, including those working with challenging and complex clients, and there will be opportunities to contribute to the development and delivery of appropriate training courses if required.

Job Description Job Responsibilities

To provide a highly specialised assessment and Psychological Therapy service in the relevant modality (CBT), including for very complex clients, as part of a personal caseload with patients who may have challenging and complex needs, including those who may have experienced childhood adversity and trauma and / or may be diagnosable with a Personality Disorder or Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, OCD or Psychosis (the latter two usually being seen by CBT therapists).

Person Specification Knowledge Essential

  • Highly developed specialist knowledge across the range of work procedures and practices, underpinned by theoretical knowledge and relevant practical experience of the relevant modality.

Qualifications Essential

  • EITHER A registered qualification in health care at graduate level in nursing, social work, allied health professional AND Post-qualification training in a specialised area of psychological therapy OR Professional training in one or more Psychological Therapies AND accredited membership of the relevant body: oBABCP for CBT

Experience Essential

  • Significant experience of working in the relevant therapy modality with adults with severe and complex mental health problems
