Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Falkirk, is currently looking to recruit a Catering Assistant for as soon as possible for a 3 week contract with potential to extend on a rate of £12.00 per hour PAYE. The working hours are 27.5 hours per week.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare counters and foodstuffs according to direction.
  • Clean and set up restaurant areas.
  • Stock up and replenish service points as required, and complete relevant documentation.
  • Liaise with staff, students and members of the public as required.
  • Clear away used plates, utensils, trays and wipe down tables and working surfaces during and after service periods.
  • Clean service equipment and kitchen areas including floors during and after service periods.
  • Cash handling at tills when directed.
  • Vending Machines - maintain supplies, clean machines and collect cash as directed.
  • Compile Hygiene Control sheets as directed.
  • Comply with Catering Service policies and procedures and statutory hygiene regulations.
  • Undertake other such duties as may be required, as appropriate to the scope and grading of the post.
  • Undertake general kitchen duties as required.

Essential Skills

  • Elementary Food hygiene certificate, or prepared to gain within 3 months of commencing post.
  • Knowledge of Food Hygiene best practice
  • Food preparation skills.
  • Minimum of one year working in a catering environment or similar including front of house experience.
  • Experience of providing good customer service.
  • Ability to communicate satisfactorily verbally to customers.
