We are looking for a new team member to join a dynamic team in Cardiff and Vale Hospice as a Catering/Café Assistant.

Title:Catering/Café Assistant (2 Roles Available)

Salary:£17,290 per annum

Hours/Contract:35 hours per week

Contract Type: Permanent

Based:Cardiff and Vale Hospice

This is an exciting new role to support our catering services at the Cardiff & Vale Marie Curie Hospice in Penarth, with a particular focus on supporting our Garden Café within the Hospice.

Reporting to the Head Chef, you will assist in the daily provision of all catering services for the Café, as well as the wider Hospice if required. You will be a vital part of the catering team made up of staff and volunteers, contributing to the smooth operation of the Café and Kitchen.

You must be able to undertake general kitchen duties, food preparation and cook simple meals under direction of the Head Chef. Kitchen experience is essential, and a basic food hygiene qualification (Level 2) is desirable but not essential as training can be provided for the right candidate.

The role will include serving and interacting with members of staff, patients, volunteers, visitors and the public so excellent communication skills and a customer focus will be important.

You will need to be flexible, well presented and highly organized.

Your duties will include:

  • Serving customers including staff, patients, visitors and the public
  • Help with the preparation, cooking and serving of food within the Café and Hospice
  • Supporting the opening and closing of the Café including ensuring all food and beverage is stored correctly and the Café is left clean and tidy ready for opening the following day.
