To learn and develop skills in order to carry out maintenance repairs in customers homes.
The types of duties this role involves includes:
- Complying to general health, safety and welfare in the workplace
- Using a range of hand and power tools
- Hanging doors
- Wood finishing (to doors, windows and windowsills)
- Fitting kitchens
- Measuring, marking out, cutting, finishing, positioning and securing
- Installing floor joist coverings
- Fitting hinges
- Full bathroom and kitchen replacements
- Shower wall boarding
- Floor and joist repairs and replacements
- Large-scale disrepair jobs
In addition to undertaking works relating to the primary trade skill, the post holder will undertake a range of associated trade tasks as required to enable the fulfilment of primary trade activities.
They will also:
- Be suitably qualified, on an on-going basis, to carry out all works, meeting all regulatory and H&S requirements (Where specific qualifications are required for the primary skill designated these will be detailed separately)
- Learn your core trade and associated enabling skills. Develop Multi-skill working towards the end of the Apprenticeship
- Learn and develop the skills to undertake all aspects of Carpenter Multi role
- Comply with instructions and procedures relating to the capture and updating of job/task information
- Fully utilise IT equipment provided to manage and assist in meeting business objectives and in the deployment and completion of works
- Learn and then ensure that all documentation, certificates and records relating to works are maintained accurately and up to date
- Take responsibility for providing excellent customer service
- Assist with the responsibility for the care and upkeep of company equipment and assets assigned you or your team. Also, to learn the importance of managing a van stock and how productive that can be on a day to day basis
- Support a flexible working rota operating between 8.00am - 6.00pm Monday - Friday
- To contribute to working groups, discussions and projects with a view to improving the service provided by Maintenance Operations
- Attend and contribute to meetings as required

Things to consider
Physically demanding - lifting, standing for a number of hours, heavy lifting, pushing, pulling, negotiate flights of stairs in multi-storey blocks of varying levels (i.e. some of the buildings are 16 storeys high)
Ability and willingness to work in some unpleasant conditions (appropriate processes and PPE will be provided).
