We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 4 Carers Lead and TES Trainer for the Wigan Division.

Wigan is proud to support our carers strategy and is looking for a caring and compassionate individual with TES (Training, Education, Support) Programme across the Wigan footprint. This individual will provide skills, training and support to carers of people who are open to or have disengaged from the Wigan Mental Health Services. Inclusive but not limited to frequent presenters in A and E Departments, Police, recurrent admissions to In Patient services and those individuals requiring regular input from Home Treatment Teams.
  • To model personal responsibility, self-awareness, self-belief, self-advocacy and hopefulness via peer support stance.
  • To sign-post to various resources, opportunities and activities within the Trust and in communities to assist in their caring role.
  • To support the carer in promoting a recovery orientated environment by identifying recovery-focused skills and imparting information and education as required.
  • To be actively involved in the continued development of the Highly Specialised Peer Support Worker training programme and in the on-going evaluation of the role.
  • To abide by the Trust Code of Conduct, so that the central focus of work, inspiring hope and living life well.
  • To act as an ambassador for the Trust with external agencies and partner organisations.
  • To engage in teaching opportunities for other health and social care providers and external agencies including Universities to highlight the role of carers
  • To establish supportive and respectful relationships with staff from GMMH Carer’s Centres and all relevant multi agency services
  • To undertake any other duties which may reasonably be regarded as within the nature of the duties and responsibilities/grade of the post as defined, subject to the proviso that normally any changes of a permanent nature shall be incorporated into the job description in specific terms.
