BUYER

Contract Scotland has an immediate opportunity for an experienced Buyer to join our client, based in Stirling, on a 6 months fixed term contract. This is a hands-on Buyer role, so you will be a quick learner, adaptable and have great people skills.

Working as part of an extremely busy and fast paced Buying department, you will utilise your knowledge and skills to deliver an excellent provision to the business. The role involves:
  • Preparing request for proposals and quotations, utilising suppliers from the appropriate company Approved Suppliers Database
  • Compiling data relating to supplier responses, highlighting inconsistences and differences and presenting information and responses for evaluation
  • Carrying out supplier evaluations and recommendations
  • Conducting negotiations to enable the shortlisting of suppliers, for designated projects
  • Leading and supporting final negotiations with selected suppliers to enable contract award.
  • Raising purchase orders for all materials and plant hire in line with company policies and procedures
  • Liaising with sites to assist with the resolution of supply issues as and when required
  • Working with project teams on material specifications, advising on alternatives where appropriate
  • Providing regular reports on procurement improvements and supplier performance
  • Ensuring the vendor database is up to date with correct suppliers and contacts
  • Identifying new suppliers and understanding what they can offer
  • Dealing with supplier invoice queries to resolution
You will be qualified to HNC, Level 4 CIPS or equivalent. Previous experience of procurement processes within a construction related environment would be preferred however procurement experience from other industry sectors will be considered. You will have excellent analytical and IT skills with a strong commercial awareness and a measured approach to decision making with the ability to ensure best value procurement.
