Due to our continued growth, we are looking for a Buyer to join the team. Reporting to our Commodity Purchasing Manager, you will be responsible for supporting YASA’s purchasing process, including supply chain development, integration of purchasing and inventory processes into the ERP system and the management of materials and inventory.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Full management of a prescribed commodity portfolio
  • Stakeholder engagement at all levels both internally and externally
  • Development and management of commodity strategies aligned to the portfolio
  • Management of the existing supplier base
  • Development and management of RFQs, as required
  • Evaluation and sourcing of suppliers aligned to programme deliverables
  • Responsible for developing and leading the negotiation strategy and cost management within the commodity portfolio
  • Negotiation and management of the contractual terms and conditions
  • Managing supplier performance and risk
  • Developing and managing supplier relationships
  • Ensuring Purchase Orders are raised in a timely manner and component deliveries support production and prototype builds
  • Maintaining accurate and timely data records
  • Providing purchasing support to other departments as required.

Skills and experience required:

  • Previous proven experience within a similar role
  • Experience working in a fast-paced automotive or manufacturing environment
  • Experience with R&D or NPI procurement
  • Ability to read, understand and extract technical information from drawings and specifications in order to procure materials and services
  • Experience of stakeholder management
  • Experience in supplier/customer relationship management
  • A clear understanding of cost drivers in a manufacturing environment and QAF documentation
  • An organised approach with good business acumen
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to work effectively with teams
  • Good IT skills including PowerPoint, MS Project, Excel and Word
  • Good understanding of the need for diplomacy and confidentiality
  • Good attention to detail
  • Self-motivated with a can-do attitude
  • A flexible approach to work.

Desirable:

  • Experience using Microsoft Dynamics Navision (NAV)
  • Experience working within a Tier 1 or OEM Automotive environment
  • Completed or studying towards CIPS qualifications.
