MacIntyre is a growing and optimistic organisation. As the commissioning landscape changes with the implementation of ICS and Provider Collaboratives we are looking for an experienced and highly capable Business Development Manager who can help us navigate the next few years. It is important to us that we continue to deliver models of education, care and support that are the very best in the eyes of those who draw on our support and in the eyes of all other stakeholders.

This is a full-time, permanent position. MacIntyre’s Central office is in Milton Keynes. This position could be based at home, but regular travel to meet the needs of the role will be expected.


Key activities:

  • To invest time in understanding what good education and care looks like from the perspective of people who draw on our support and their families.
  • To make a contribution in establishing a growth mindset across all divisions
  • Work alongside operational colleagues to assess the commissioning landscape and wider market conditions in all key areas.
  • Manage the process for all written bids, maximising success in pursuit of new business and retention of existing contracts
  • Ensure all required bid activities are completed to an exceptional standard and on time, resulting in the submission of compelling and commercially competitive tenders

About you

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • a passion for making a difference to the lives of disabled children and adults
  • exceptional technical and commercial writing skills
  • a fine-tuned attention to detail, with strong editing and proofreading skills
  • proven ability to build a compelling case, while gathering and producing costing data
  • proven success in bid preparation and tender responses
  • experience of project-managing bid processes from start to finish, maintaining a bid pipeline and winning bids
  • a demonstrable track record of leading and winning competitive tenders for government contracts
  • the ability to build strong internal and external stakeholder engagement
  • excellent team leadership skills, with evidence of building expertise of staff
  • brilliant stakeholder and relationship building skills and be capable of working as part of a virtual team to maximise output.
