Job Details ?Contract Type: Permanent Salary: FC7 £29,245.89 - £36,547.97 (Graduate Built Heritage Officer)/ FC8 £36,547.97 - £40,245.94 (Built Heritage Officer) per year pro rata Working Pattern: 36 hours per week Location: Fife House, Glenrothes Fife Council has an award-winning Planning Service and we have a vacancy for a Graduate Built Heritage Officer/Built Heritage Officer. Whether you have recently graduated or looking to develop your career in planning and caring for our rich historic environment, Fife has a lot to offer. Scotland’s fourth National Planning Framework has emphasised the importance of the historic environment and we have started preparing a new local development plan which will be place-based and will seek to safeguard local distinctiveness. The post will provide an opportunity to work within Scotland’s largest planning authority outwith Glasgow and Edinburgh, dealing with a varied caseload of work whilst rising to the challenge of creating great places for the people and businesses of Fife. The post involves providing specialist advice on the historic environment and built heritage in relation to applications for planning permission, conservation area consent, and listed building consent. The post also involves contributing to the development and delivery of the built heritage component of policies and programmes, including Fife’s development plan and the Fife Historic Environment Strategy in addressing the key issues of social, and economic equality and climate change action. The Person We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual with a positive attitude to customer care, educated to SCQF level 9 (a degree or equivalent) in an historic or built environment subject, which includes a degree or equivalent. You must be able to demonstrate a level of competence and knowledge of working with historic buildings of all periods and types, building conservation, the conservation needs associated with them and relevant legislation, processes, and procedures.
