The Myers Group have an Exciting Opportunity for a Building Maintenance Technician to join our existing maintenance team.

This Vacancy is Full time, Permanent, with a Competitive Salary plus excellent benefits!

The primary aim of the role will be to undertake building work covering a full range of areas including masonry, tiling, formwork and concreting, drainage, yard repairs, basic joinery, plumbing, racking installations and fencing.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Undertake buildings and yard maintenance and repairs. Anticipate and solve problems in a timely manner, identify opportunities for improvement and within agreed budgets and timescales.
  • Carry out repairs to buildings fixtures and fittings across the group.
  • Carry out an assessment of spares and materials required to complete work effectively, where necessary ordering additional items via your manager or direct from supplier.
  • Attend meetings and group discussions where required.
  • Carry out the design, installation, refurbishment and commissioning of projects to specification and on time.
  • Ensure the upkeep and condition of all equipment, fixtures and fabric of the workshop.
  • Ensure all contractors and employees comply with the Company Health and Safety and Environmental Policies and Procedures.
  • Report on operational issues and opportunities to ensure the most cost effective and suitable option is proposed.
  • Communicate efficiently with all members of the team and your customers, including regular updates to your line manager on task progress.
  • Conduct inspections and preventative maintenance where necessary.
  • Undertake suitable training and maintain CPD records.
  • Ensure that all engineering drawings and specifications are followed.
  • Any other reasonable duties which may be required by the Company from time to time, as instructed by or under the direction of your immediate supervisor.

Skills and Attributes

  • Good technical knowledge of construction disciplines (ideally apprentice trained).
  • Good problem solving ability and a practical approach.
  • Competent in basic computer based systems.
  • Ability to operate mobile plant as required.
  • Have a suitable fitness level to conduct work appropriately.
  • Ability to plan, prioritise and organise own workload.
  • Ability to work alone and as a member of a team.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight schedules.
  • A professional attitude and demeanour.
  • Must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Must be self-motivated, have strong interpersonal skills and have the ability to solve problems at source.
  • Must possess excellent organisation skills and good time management.
  • Must be self-driven, genuine with a positive attitude and clear focus.
  • Must be sufficiently mobile and flexible to work beyond the call of duty to achieve results.
