What’s the purpose of the role?

RM’s purpose is to enrich the lives of learners, and we do that by enabling our customers to make the most of what technology can offer to help them deliver educational outcomes. This role is part of our Bid Management team and is principally aligned to the Technology division, which delivers IT Products and Services, including connectivity, hardware, and managed services, to schools across the UK.

A Bid Manager is responsible for managing the end-to-end bid process from Bid/No Bid through to customer negotiation and Contract Award. They work in close partnership with sales, and interface into a range of functions to support the on-time submission of high-quality bid responses. The role reports to the Head of Bid Management. Bids are a significant way in which our customers come to market to procure our services and responding in a high quality and efficient way allows us to better meet their needs and help us reach more customers and grow our impact.

Responsibilities Include
  • Management of all aspects of the bid process
  • Ensure Bid Governance is being adhered to
  • Cross business collaboration
  • Ensuring high quality responses are submitted to maximise our win rate.
What does the job entail?
  • Proposal management and production to meet both formal and informal bid requests
  • SQ/PQQ / ITT management and production
  • Ensure Proposal Governance is being adhered to
  • Managing all stages of the bid lifecycle including qualification, bid response, win and loss reviews and driving process improvement
  • Cross business collaboration – managing cross functional teams to meet bid deadlines
  • Help to create and shape winning bid strategies and proposal themes.
  • Completion of bid responses to a high quality, ensuring accuracy and consistency including writing content, re-using and improving content library, and collecting input and content from subject matter experts across RM.
What are we looking for?
  • Strong bid management experience with exceptional focus on the customer and their success criteria (APMP or other Bid Management qualification preferred)
  • Ability to prioritise and organise yourself, collaborate with and influence others, including senior stakeholders, to deliver high quality bid responses, with good attention to detail, delivering to tight deadlines
  • Drive for success as part of a team, winning bids and delivering value for our customers.
  • Strong commercial acumen and judgement, including making recommendations in the interest of the customer and RM and the ability to identify risks and mitigation strategies.
  • Mindset for continual learning and improvement, including working within and across teams to deliver improvements.
  • A passion for Education and RM’s purpose to enrich the lives of learners
  • Experience responding to Public Sector frameworks and knowledge of the latest PS procurement trends.
  • Experience of working within IT / Managed Services / Education.
