An excellent opportunity for an experienced pharmacist with a passion for improving the lives of those suffering with mental health conditions, and advising NHS clinicians about medicines optimisation, has arisen at AWP Mental Health Trust. This brand new role will primarily support mental health clinicians, GPs and pharmacists working in primary care in the BaNES, Swindon and Wiltshire CCG area.

You will also provide a prescribing role within an AWP community mental health team, to be agreed based on the needs of the service and areas of interest, and defined with the Medical Lead. We are seeking a pharmacist with clinical experience of working in secondary care mental health services, and an understanding of the changing primary landscape is desirable too.

To support Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) representation in senior health and care roles, AWP is developing a positive action plan to ensure the widest and most diverse field of talent; so we are particularly keen to receive applications from people with a BAME background.

Multidisciplinary working and pharmacist input into the primary care networks and AWP assessment teams is part of this newly developed role, bringing opportunities to develop the role, the pharmacy service, and the impact you can bring to patient care.

There will be opportunities to support with developing enhanced governance and safety around medicines use in the community.

The pharmacy service at AWP has two in-house, technician led dispensaries (in Bristol and Wiltshire) and clinical pharmacists and MMTs based at our various inpatient sites across the Trust.

We are AWP (Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust)a diverse organisation with over 5,000 dedicated staff providing inpatient and community-based mental health care.

We provide services from a range of locations to approximately 1.8 million people living in Bath and North East Somerset (B&NES), Bristol, North Somerset, South Gloucestershire, Swindon, across the county of Wiltshire and in parts of Dorset.
