We are currently looking for a German speaking Project Procurement Manager to join us in Siemens Mobility supporting our Rolling Stock (RS) business.

Reporting to the Supply Chain Director for Rolling Stock and Customer Services, you will be the interface between procurement and project management, logistics and engineering and will be responsible for all topics relevant to procurement in the assigned rail vehicle projects for both the UK and international markets.

This role is based out of our newly built Goole factory offices however working from home will be possible as we have adopted the “new normal” working hours. As you will be working very closely with our colleagues in Germany and Austria, you will also be required to travel internationally on a regular (weekly and monthly) basis.

What part will you play?

  • You will assume project-specific responsibility for electrical and mechanical standard/catalogue parts and simple metal/plastic parts as well as materials from the chemical sector
  • You will report regularly on material status and costs in the assigned projects within the organisation
  • In close coordination with the strategic buyer, you will independently take over contract negotiations and initiate further cost reduction measures to meet the target costs in the projects. You will support the strategic buyers by identifying and developing new UK suppliers in the commodities you are responsible for
  • You are responsible for efficient project procurement activities and the maintenance and expansion of a cross-functional network
  • You anchor overarching purchasing strategies

What you need to make real what matters

  • An open mind set from challenging the norm to driving for success
  • You have the equivalent experience or have successfully completed a bachelor’s degree in a technical or commercial field
  • In addition, you have proven professional experience in strategic and/or project procurement
  • Sound experience in at least one related functional area (development, logistics, project management) is desirable
  • Ideally, you have professional experience in the railway or a related industrial sector, e.g. automotive
  • You are willing to travel to our suppliers and other UK and international Siemens Mobility locations (>30%). The induction takes place during the week at international Mobility locations; we assume that you are willing to travel
  • You show the ability to work in multidisciplinary networks and to maintain them
  • You have excellent self-organisation, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • You are fluent in English and German
