Overview / Responsibilities:
Wood Life Sciences is currently recruiting an Automation Project Manager on a 12 month contract at a pharmaceutical client site in Barnard Castle, County Durham. The role will be to support with the delivery of an EPC framework contract.


We are considering applications from local candidates and travellers who are happy to be based at site for a minimum of 4 days per week. This is a hands on, site based role where you would be managing several projects at once and will be the point of contact for client and stakeholders.


The ideal candidate would have the following :
  • Experience in control and safety system upgrade projects (BMS, DCS, SCADA, Process & Emergency Shut Down systems).
  • Previous experience in Pharmaceutical or similar industry e.g. FMCG
A basic understanding of the following is required:
  • Control system physical network architectures (PCN/OT networks).
    Different network and controller communication protocols (Ethernet, Modbus, BACnet, OPC).
  • Experience with legacy and current generation Schneider and Honeywell Building
  • Management System platforms (desirable).
  • Fundamentals of control system/MCC panel design and build process.
  • Fundamentals of control system FAT/SAT process.
  • Typical Systems vendor documentation (General Arrangements, schematics & wiring diagrams, hardware & software specifications, FAT/SAT protocol documentation).
  • HVAC and ancillary systems supplying general and GMP production areas.
  • Standard field instrumentation used in HVAC systems.
  • Fundamentals of instrument cabling and associated infrastructue requirements.
  • Fundamentals of HAZID, HAZOP & LOPA review process.
Responsibilities
  • Fully responsible for the management of a portfolio of projects based at a client’s Pharmaceutical Plant
  • Clients primary focal point for allocated projects from kick-off to close out
  • Experience of Projects from FEED to Construction/Commissioning & Closeout (Pharma experience strongly preferred)
  • Responsible for the safe delivery of projects to budget and schedule
  • Ensure good communication between engineering disciplines
  • Maintain effective dialogue with other project engineers, Delivery Team leader, Engineering manager.
  • Manage project changes effectively
  • Ensure an effective risk management process is adopted
  • Provide HSE leadership within sphere of influence
  • Responsible for estimation of scopes at each stage of a project lifecycle
  • Effective coordination of all elements of the project, with a hands-on, can-do attitude where necessary
  • Good stakeholder management and client interfacing skills
  • Ensure Roles, Responsibilities and Accountabilities are fully understood by the project team, including sub-contractors
  • Development of relationships with internal and external customers and organisations

Skills / Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • HND / HNC in a relevant Engineering discipline

Minimum Experience & Skills:

  • Demonstrable experience in the management of multi-discipline projects, with strong experience in Control Systems (BMS, DCS, SCADA, Process & Emergency Shut Down systems) .
  • Practiced in project control mechanisms and with commercial and technical risk assessments
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Practitioner in risk management processes
  • Strong effective delegation skills
