Role Purpose

1. To assist the ANPR Specialist in all aspects of role.

2. To interact with all suppliers and be fully conversant with installation and maintenance of contracts and equipment.

3. Support the delivery and implementation of the National ANPR System (NAS).

4. To create and maintain databases, extract data when required and delegate workload where appropriate.

5. To assist with the management of any ANPR system generated evidence and the chain of continuity.

6. To audit the use of ANPR systems in line with National Standards for Compliance and Audit of Law Enforcement ANPR.

7. Support full compliance with National ANPR Standards for Policing and Law Enforcement (NASPLE).

8. To compile and maintain performance information data relating to the use of ANPR, ensuring efficient distribution of such data as may be required.

9. To provide a point of contact for all customers and external agencies, and look for collaborative opportunities with partner agencies and other forces to avoid duplication and to seek out best practice.

10. To represent Dyfed-Powys Police at partnership meetings as required.

11. To provide witness statements and attend Magistrate’s Court to give evidence as and when required.

12. To assist with the delivery of training in relation to ANPR.

13. To provide a policy review function for ANPR.

14. To deliver advice and guidance to the point of resolution.

15. To undertake activities and administrative tasks as required.

16. To provide an effective and efficient service to both internal and external customers ensuring confidentiality is maintained at all times.

17. To communicate effectively with internal and external customers.

18. To ensure force systems are maintained and updated effectively in line with business processes.

19. To ensure all work is undertaken is compliant with relevant legislation and force policies and procedures, keeping up to date with emerging technologies and best practise.

20. To comply and act in accordance with relevant legislation, Dyfed-Powys Police Policies and protocols, including Code of Ethics, Development Assessment Profile (DAP), Equal Opportunities, Health & Safety, Management of Police Information, Data Protection and Information Security.

Skills / Attainments

1. Must have a knowledge and understanding of the principles of ANPR systems and the related technologies (E)

2. Must have an understanding of the Data Protection Act 2018 and Human Rights Act 1998 (E)

3. Must have the ability to give evidence in a public forum. i.e. Court (E)

4. Must have experience of or ability to deliver basic training packages to groups (E)

5. Should have experience of auditing or similar processes (D)

6. Must possess a Diploma level qualification related to the specialist area, or have proven, relevant experience bringing the role holder to a comparable level (E)

7. Must have a proven ability to work effectively with a minimum of supervision, organising and prioritising own workload (E)

8. Must have effective written and oral communication skills, with an ability to communicate with people at all levels of the organisation (E)

9. Must demonstrate a practical approach to problem solving (E)

10. Must demonstrate proficiency at working to a high degree of accuracy and show attention to detail (E)

11. Must have effective keyboard inputting skills (E)

12. Must be computer literate, proficient in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel (E)

13. Must be able to travel within the force area as required by the role (E)

14. Must have the ability to communicate through the medium of Welsh to level 1 or be prepared to achieve this within 6 months of appointment. (E)
