McGinnis Loy Associates is proud to be working with a highly regarded Top20 Accounting Firm who are looking to grow their Audit & Accounts function and recruit a Qualified AAT or Part-Qualified ACCA Accountant for their growing team in Tamworth. Reporting to one of the Client Managers, you will be responsible for:

  • Preparing draft financial statements for a portfolio of small clients in various industry sectors
  • Completing and submitting less complex VAT returns to HMRC on behalf of small businesses
  • Undertaking on-site audits where necessary, to help build long term business relationships
  • Ensuring all book-keeping duties are in compliance with UK accounting standards and internal procedures
  • Producing Management Accounts & basic Statutory accounts for clients, drafting some sections of the final reports for Managers
  • Highlighting any technical audit & accounting issues identified during the course of work with clients
  • Delivering a basic level of expertise across primary accounting frameworks (UK GAAP or IFRS)
  • Identifying areas that may require improvement in client audit & accounting processes, providing recommendations to Managers
  • Developing juniors/graduates in the team by on-the-job training, and helping with their work as your experience grows

To be considered for the role you should ideally be an AAT Qualified or ACCA Part-Qualified, with previous Accounting, Book-keeping and VAT experience in a small/medium or regional accounting firm, used to preparing basic accounts, VAT and being responsible for your own portfolio of clients in the SME/OMB sectors. You will have experience working in a team environment on multiple clients, building strong relationships and being able to prioritise and work to strict deadlines.

On offer is a salary to £23,000 depending on relevant practice experience and qualification – with benefits to include 22 days holiday, healthcare and company pension.
