Our healthcare client, based in Nottingham, are currently hiring for a Audio Typist to join their team on a part-time basis (Monday and Tuesdays).

  • Are you an experienced Audio Typist/Medical Secretary?
  • Do you have audio typing/dictation skills, with a great level of accuracy and attention to detail?
  • Are you competent using MS Office Applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook?
  • Are you happy to work Monday and Tuesdays in Nottingham (on-site) on a temporary basis, expected to last until September 2021, working either 8.00am - 4.00pm or 9am - 5pm?
  • Are you happy to register with Your World Healthcare to begin employment successfully, as part of your application process? (Please note: This is a requirement)
  • Do you have a current Clean enhanced DBS issued within last 12 months or a current valid DBS certificate registered on the update service?
  • If you do not hold a current valid DBS, will you be happy to apply for this as part of your application via Your World Healthcare? (Please Note: A valid in-date clean DBS is required for you to commence employment successfully)
  • Will you be willing to complete mandatory online training modules? (Required, to commence employment)

Job Summary

  • To be responsible for the audio typing and transcription of all clinical correspondence across all specialties within the Directorate.
  • The post holder will be expected to ensure all clinical correspondence is typed and processed within specified timescales and will need to demonstrate a flexible approach to the job, providing typing support for the speciality.
  • The post holder will need fast and accurate audio typing skills and a sound knowledge of medical terminology.
  • The role/duties of the post are outlined below. In undertaking this role, the employee will be expected to behave at all times that are consistent with and actively supports the Trust values which are detailed below.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately transcribing from Winscribe digital dictation and Winscribe Speech Recognition digital dictation, outpatient clinic letters and miscellaneous clinical correspondence to a high standard with specified timescales.
  • Responsible for the production of discharge summaries, clinical papers and material for publication from either audio or copy typing.
  • Use judgement and initiative to prioritise the importance/urgency of particular requests within defined guidelines
  • Undertake daily peer audit of clinical correspondence to ensure a high standard of accuracy and quality of work.
  • Ability to exchange sensitive or contentious information with diplomacy and in a confidential manner.
  • Liaising with outpatient administrator re appointments and necessary important clinical information to ensure patients are seen on their pathway without delay.
  • Manage e-mail accounts to retrieve Inter Provider Transfers then record and take any necessary action as appropriate
  • To undertake other specialty specific duties in accordance with Trust policies and procedures to facilitate the patient pathway
  • Ensure RTT patient data quality is accurate at all times
  • Adapt a flexible attitude to meet the needs of the service, taking into consideration each department’s unique specialty and the subsequent requirements of such specialist services.
  • Provide cover for Patient Pathway Administrator colleagues during times of sickness and annual leave.
  • Promote an open friendly working environment

Experiences, Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong level of Audio Typing/Transcription skills gained within an NHS, Private Healthcare Organisation, Hospital setting or Public Sector environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills at all levels
  • Articulate, assured and customer focused telephone manner
  • Good level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Diary management experience (preferable)
  • Competent use of MS Office Applications
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Appropriate handling of sensitive/confidential information

To successfully commence employment, you will be required to:

  • Register with Your World Healthcare and become fully compliant (prior to commencing employment)
  • Hold a clean valid-in date enhanced DBS dated in the last 12 months or a valid in-date DBS registered with the update service (if held by a third party) to commence employment successfully. If you do not yet hold an enhanced clean DBS certificate dated within the last 12 months or a valid certification of a DBS registered with the update service (with photographic evidence of this) - you will be required to apply for a new DBS part of your application. This can be applied for via Your World Healthcare.
  • Complete mandatory online training modules (to be set up via Your World Healthcare Recruitment)
  • Provide professional employment/educational references covering the last 3 years.

Please note:A valid in date DBS must be held to commence employment.
