We are currently seeking an Associate Scientist to perform routine assignments with mentorship and direction from others. You would be responsible for test preparation and writing test reports!

Responsibilities Include:

Test Work
  • Perform basic complexity testing with moderate level of direction.
  • Review job request, relevant Safety data and fully understand requirements in accordance with laboratory SOPs
  • Determine availability of required equipment and materials – prepare or order required materials
Performing test
  • Assemble test apparatus
  • Accurately operate, understand and be able to tackle all equipment/instrumentation necessary to support testing
  • Record raw data directly onto datasheets or into laboratory notebook. Immediately notify laboratory management of any test delays, problems or deviations
Test completion
  • Disassemble and clean test equipment and work area
  • Record any remaining test information
  • Create an accurate and timely laboratory report reflective of the laboratory request requirements. Report hours spent on project
Position Qualifications and Proficiencies:
  • Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering is preferred, or the equivalent work experience that provides knowledge and exposure to fundamental theories and concepts.
  • Use existing procedures to solve standard problems; analyse information and standard practices to make judgements
  • Knowledge of fundamental laboratory techniques and measurement methods
  • Practical ability to perform test work and execute work instructions
  • Good written and verbal communication
  • Conversant with PC based programmes
