We are currently looking for an Associate Scientist to generate data using microbiological and biopharmaceutical related test methods.

The successful applicant will join a collaborative team, working in the laboratory to conduct test work that supports our Biotech customers.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Perform routine assignments with mentorship and direction from others
  • Review job request, relevant safety data and fully understand requirements in accordance with laboratory SOPs
  • Determine availability of required equipment and materials – prepare or order required materials
  • Review timelines and discuss schedule conflicts or modifications with laboratory management (and project manager, where necessary)
  • Perform test work according to laboratory test requirements
  • Accurately operate, understand and be able to troubleshoot all equipment/instrumentation necessary to support testing
  • Record raw data electronically, directly onto datasheets or into laboratory notebook. Immediately notify laboratory management of any test delays, problems or deviations
  • Disassemble and clean test equipment and work areas
  • Build an accurate and timely laboratory report reflective of the laboratory request requirements. Report hours spent on project
  • Document non-conformances and initiate exception reports in a timely manner as well as participating in investigations as required
  • Assist with equipment calibration and maintenance, autoclave validation, environmental monitoring and completion of applicable documentation
Position Education & Competencies:
  • Degree or equivalent in Biomedical Sciences or the equivalent work experience that provides knowledge and exposure to fundamental theories and concepts
  • Use existing procedures to tackle standard problems; analyse information and standard practices to make judgements
  • Knowledge of fundamental laboratory techniques, aseptic techniques and measurement methods
