Applications are invited for the position of Associate Practitioner. This is an opportunity for an enthusiastic person to work as an Associate Practitioner to work in a busy department which provides a full range of clinical and diagnostic services to NHS Tayside and North-east Fife.

The Diagnostics Laboratories Microbiology/Virology Department is primarily based at Ninewells Hospital, a large Teaching Hospital and Medical School, Dundee and Covid testing also carried out at Perth Royal Infirmary, Perth.

We are looking for a member of staff that can demonstrate team spirit, initiative, flexibility and has the enthusiasm to train further. You will be working in a fully refurbished state of the art Virology laboratory with extensive automation and PCR analysers.

The Department provides specialist services in Viral Serology, Molecular (PCR) testing including the Covid testing.

Staff development is encouraged and supported. On attaining appropriate competences you may have sessional commitments to the Out of Hours sessions which will include early, evening, weekend, and overnight duties.

The post is a supervisory post with ~20 MLA staff that work 24/7/364 as shifts, you will also draft rosters for the staff sessions.

You may be required to work later to supervise, support and deliver training to MLA/HCSW staff, and to cover gaps in the roster.

Hours of work are: 37.5 hours per week; core hours are between 0800 - 2000, plus early/late sessions, some weekends and Public Holidays and may be required to work out of hours sessions.
