The Opportunity

Based in Winchester, we are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic Associate with excellent design, communication, technical, and sustainability skills who enjoys working collaboratively in multi-professional design teams, taking responsibility for projects from inception to completion to achieve outstanding results.

In this role you will provide leadership to the MEP team on a portfolio of projects locally, nationally and internationally, having the responsibility of ensuring correct technical approaches are applied to the project and staff are of suitable capabilities to undertake the tasks required.

You’ll have responsibility for the financial performance of the projects including liaising directly with clients on fees and commercial matters, effectively overseeing total project delivery by enabling effective team management and delegation to ensure the efficient and satisfactory delivery of multiple and complex projects, reporting to the Project Director. This will involve interactive and collaborative working with colleagues throughout our multidisciplinary teams. You will be adept at engaging in the external market to identify opportunities and potential future work.

As part of your role, you will be a recognised focal point for client contact within Arup and be able to influence strategically. This role will be responsible for a number of strategic aspects in relation to the mechanical portfolio and its delivery; ensuring that the overall interests of the Arup business are met.


Is this role right for you?

We are looking for people who:

  • Are degree qualified in Mechanical or HVAC Engineering, ideally to master level
  • Have achieved Chartered Engineer status or working towards Chartership
  • Have extensive experience in winning and delivering a range of projects.
  • Are able to provide technical leadership of multi-discipline design teams including external sub-consultants
  • Have strong awareness of appropriate sector-specific legislation, code requirements and design guidance and future trends
