Position Profile:

Brief Description:

An Associate Director, Project Management will provide project management leadership to EUR /INT launch teams and if required, global drug development project teams. The individual will work closely with the Director/Sr. Director Project Management, EUR/ INT Launch lead, Medical Lead, Development Team Leader, Regulatory Strategy lead and others to ensure successful completion of project goals and objectives on schedule and within budget. This individual will also participate in Project Management operational and process improvement initiatives

Essential Functions

  • Must apply PM expertise to establish and maintain multiple comprehensive integrated Launch/project plans and budgets
  • Partner strongly with functional leaders to resolve complex project/product or functional issues to ensure completion of the project /product roadmap within scope, on schedule and within budget constraints
  • Lead teams in Risk Management activities including the identification of project risks and development of risk management tactics (i.e. mitigations and contingency plans)
  • Lead teams in preparing background material and presentations for Governance, as needed
  • Ensure alignment of goals, objectives and deliverables between all functions and sub teams, anticipating project/product challenges (including but not limited to, strategy and external business changes)
  • Provide leadership in mapping the decisions and deliverables required for later stages of development and launch
  • Provide project management support for corporate projects and initiatives as needed

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proven track record in project management, brand management, or product launch experience in the pharmaceutical industry
  • Possesses detailed knowledge of all phases of the drug development cycle and has the technical understanding to lead teams through the successful development, registration and launch of pharmaceutical products
  • Product launch expertise acquired through past leadership role in pharmaceutical/biotech product launches is desirable
  • Familiarity with product launch content, deliverables, and decision-tools
  • Possess strong ability to influence stakeholders (including leadership) to drive cross-functional collaboration
  • Guide teams in critical thinking and resolution of complex issues
  • Work jointly with the project team leader/ launch lead to guide and motivate project /launch team members and ensure conflicting functional needs are recognized and resolved in a professional and timely manner
  • Work with leadership to initiate resolution of resource issues if needed
  • Must possess keen analytical abilities and have strong financial understanding to review financial data and facilitate the compilation and communication of project finances
  • Must be able to prioritize and multi-task, work effectively with little or no direction, and build collaborative relationships with management, partners and peers from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities under tight deadlines
  • Clear written and verbal communication, strong interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (e.g. Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Project); Smartsheets a plus. Planisware experience a plus.

Required/Preferred Education and Licenses

  • Bachelors’ Degree (preferably Life Sciences) and significant related experience in project management including experience in independently managing or leading cross-functional project teams in a drug development company.
  • Experience of managing launches of pharmaceutical products
  • Advanced Degree (MS/PhD/PharmD/MBA) a plus
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) a plus
