There’s never been a better time to join Achieving for Children (AfC), AfC fostering is a unique social enterprise of 3 owning Local Authorities; London Borough of Richmond, Royal Borough of Kingston and Royal Borough of Windsor Maidenhead, we are a registered Independent Fostering Agency with Ofsted and have two team locations; Kingston and Maidenhead.

Achieving for Children are ever expanding especially through the fostering service, we offer a great training program for staff and carers. We are looking for enthusiastic, detail orientated people who can join our workforce and continue to support our growth and improvement.

The Assistant Team Manager for the operational 2 branch of AfC will report to the Fostering Branch Manager/Registered Manager in this branch and will support the Fostering Team across the board in a broad, collaborative approach with the Manager. The Assistant Manager will have a reduced caseload of foster carers to supervise and/or assessments, as well as supervising approximately three full time social workers in the team. The Assistant Team Manager will also attend meetings on behalf of the fostering service across the agency, chair stability meetings and assist with auditing, reporting and Ofsted requirements.

With previous experience of supervising social workers in the context of children social care/fostering you will be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of Children Act 1989 and 2004, Fostering Regulations and National Minimum Standards; including awareness of current national policy, evidence based research and best practice that affects children’s social care.

You will have experience in working in a fostering team setting and working with children social care, supervising foster carers; completing annual reviews, standards of cares and safeguarding monitoring.

With strong analytical, and planning skills for assessing, and reviewing both foster carers and children and young people’s needs, as well as investigating standards of care concerns, you will have experience of keeping and maintaining records and producing accurate reports, presentations, written updates to a range of stakeholders.

You will be able to work flexibly and independently with limited management oversight, have good communication skills, including the ability to use different communication styles and techniques to present ideas and influence others, with a commitment to resource-sharing and having a collaborative way of working with services and teams within Achieving for Children.
