We are looking for a permanent 16 hours per week Band 5 Assistant Psychologist to join the Neuropsychology and Medical Psychology teams within the Department of Healthcare Psychology at Airedale NHS Foundation Trust.

The department has a reputation as a developing, innovative and highly supportive service, with a commitment to supporting the delivery of psychological care by all clinical staff, through training, consultation, and supervision of other disciplines in the Trust.

We offer approaches such as ACT, CBT, CFT, Systemic approaches, Mindfulness and Health Behaviour Change, collaborating to deliver these and train across our individual specialties.

The post-holder will be based at Airedale Hospital, which serves the Airedale, Wharfedale and Craven districts of Yorkshire, including the market towns of Ilkley, Keighley and Skipton.

This post will be attractive to someone who is thinking of /applying for the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology and is looking to further their experience of neuropsychological assessment and formulation.

Under the regular supervision of an experienced Clinical Psychologist, the post holder will carry out a wide range of assessments with patients referred by Neurology and Neuro-rehabilitation services at Airedale Hospital

There may also be opportunities to contribute to research and audit and the post holder will be expected to carry out administrative tasks as necessary for the efficient provision of the service.

A good first honours degree in Psychology (2:1 or above) and eligibility for graduate membership of the British Psychological Society, as well as previous experience of the administration and scoring of neuropsychological assessments are necessary.

Working directly with patients via telephone, video conferencing and face to face

To facilitate groups for patients and carers in the areas covered by medical psychology

Manage a designated caseload of patients.

Support the provision of a clinical psychology service

To communicate, in a skilled and sensitive manner

Communicate effectively with patients, relatives/carers and colleagues

Communication of information relevant to confidentiality and limits to confidentiality

To undertake risk assessment & risk management for clients in their care, communicating with clinical supervisors, and safeguarding services in a timely and safe way as needed.

Proactively contribute to the achievement of positive clinical outcome. This will include conducting evaluations using clinical outcome measures and satisfaction surveys.

Use IT systems effectively including SystmOne

Maintain accurate, up to date clinical records in accordance with Trust policy.

To contribute to the development and articulation of best practice in psychology across the service, by continuing to develop skills in preparation for a role as a reflective scientist practitioner, taking part in regular professional supervision, participating in peer supervision through local assistant psychologists groups, and regular appraisal.

Maintain an active engagement & up-to-date knowledge of legislation (including Mental Capacity Act, DoLs etc), national and local policies & issues in relation to Neuropsychology and Medical Psychology.

Neuropsychology service

• Under the supervision of two qualified clinical psychologists, to administer and score specialist neuropsychological assessments with patients of the neurology and neuro rehabilitation services (including the TOPF-uk, WAIS-IV, WMS-IV, RBANS, BMIPB, DKEFS, and TEA).
• To produce results in a report format, being mindful of issues relating to information governance and patient confidentiality.
• To plan & develop rehabilitation materials, both general and patient specific under the supervision of the neuropsychology team

Medical Psychology service

• Under the supervision of a clinical psychologist to support the provision of a clinical psychology service to the patients of the Trust duties will include one to one work and provision of group based interventions
• To participate in patient satisfaction and outcome data collection.
• To use research skills for audit, policy and service development.
