Job OverviewAn exciting opportunity has arisen in the Scheduled Care Directorate within Hywel Dda University Health Board for an enthusiastic, committed, and flexible Band 4 Assistant Practitioner. The successful candidate will join our friendly, motivated, and experienced, busy Endoscopy Unit at Withybush General Hospital.The unit provides a variety of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures whilst striving to provide exceptional levels of patient care, in order to meet the expanding needs of our communities.We have four units, three of which are JAG accredited. JAG accreditation is the formal recognition for an endoscopy service that has demonstrated it has the competence to deliver against the criteria set out in the JAG standards.This post offers the candidate the opportunity to learn and enhance their existing skills whilst caring for patients undergoing investigative procedures and treatments as well as providing support to patient and their families.The post holder will work within the Endoscopy portfolio and report to the Senior Sisters. The successful candidate will need to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team, demonstrating excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Endoscopy experience is desirable but not essential as training is provided.Main duties of the jobUndertake identified duties in relation to the care environment, and the direct care of the patient as identified and delegated by a registered nurse, in accordance with the Health Board policies and procedures.Perform duties and activities within the framework of a plan of care, as delegated and reviewed by a registered nurse, at regular intervals.Assist patients to achieve physical and emotional well-being and comfort.Ensure that any changes in a patients condition or circumstance are reported immediately to the appropriate person/registered nurse/nurse in charge.Utilise transferable skills within level of competence.Clinical Assessment and Care Planning to meet Health and Well-Being NeedsContribute to the reassessment of health and well-being needs of patient’s within scope of competence.Make suggestions to the registered nurse in relation to adjustments to the patients care plan when contributing to the assessment and care of the patient.Respect people’s dignity, wishes and beliefs, involving them in shared decision making and obtaining consent for delegated procedures within scope of competence.Record and report back accurately and fully on the reassessments undertaken and risks identified and participating in developing actions in the care plan to address identified risks.Working for our organisationHywel Dda University Health Board is the planner and provider of NHS healthcare services for people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and its bordering counties.
