Assistant Outdoor Learning Manager – Eyam Edge Farm
Salary range: £33,524.44 - £38,564.23 per annum

This is a 52-week role starting with 33 days holiday per year rising to 38 days (including bank holidays)

Applicants need to be aware that the first stage interview will take place during week commencing 9th August at the Eyam site and if successful at this stage then they will be invited to a second stage on Wednesday 18th August 2021 which will take place in Stroud.

Eyam Edge Farm is set in a wonderful location in the heart of the Peak District National Park. We are a part of Brantwood Specialist School and on a daily basis students travel to the farm to engage in animal husbandry, horticulture, craft and curriculum activities.

To help further develop and manage our established farm school based in Eyam, Derbyshire, we require a committed assistant for the current farm manager / Deputy Head Teacher. This is a significant role, suited to a person with experience of working with young people with complex needs. In addition, it is essential that the right candidate has some experience of working with animals and ideally has teaching and horticultural experience.

We are a working farm with a focus on using Practical Skills Therapeutic Education (PSTE) to engage our students. We work on the land to inspire our students through seasonal activities using natural resources and the ‘seed to table’ approach. Helping to design, resource and teach such activities would be a key part of the role. The successful candidate must be able to see the learning opportunities in the landscape and therefore contribute to the future development of the farm

Only those with an outstanding commitment to excellence should apply. The successful applicant will have completed their teaching qualification, achieved qualified teacher status, proven experience in SEN education and behaviour management, and have worked with the Ofsted framework for assessment and safeguarding.

Working at Brantwood Specialist School is rewarding, and in return we offer competitive salaries with progression in pay once qualified, and an auto-enrolement pension scheme. In addition, staff receive:

· a comprehensive induction, an excellent personal development plan and extensive training to include Autism, Attachment, Emotional Resilience, Holistic Support, MAPA (physical intervention) training

· a wide range of training and Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) opportunities, including study and support towards an MSC in Practical Skills Therapeutic Education (PSTE)

The post is subject to satisfactory references, an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check for both adults and children, medical check, evidence of qualifications and verification of the right to work in the UK. Brantwood Specialist School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

Visits to the school can only be arranged if you are shortlisted for an interview.
