About Us

We believe that through clarity of vision, collaboration and dedication, we can achieve great things for our young people and for the staff who join us on our journey.

Our vision is simple, yet unashamedly ambitious:

‘To develop world-class students who have the belief in themselves that anything is possible and lead happy and successful lives.’

A key part of our plan for education is to ensure children become valuable and fully rounded members of society who treat others with respect and tolerance, regardless of background.

About The Role

Following the promotion of the current postholder, this is an exciting opportunity to join this successful 11-18 standalone Academy. We are looking to appoint an Assistant Headteacher who shares the school’s vision and values. Our vision is to develop world-class students who have the belief in themselves that anything is possible and go on to lead happy and successful lives. If you feel that you could play a part in helping us achieve that vision, for every student, then this could be the role for you.

It is likely that the successful candidate will undertake line management responsibility for our Year Group Performance Directors; take a lead role in the development of the pastoral system and student character; act as DSL and lead on ensuring a robust safeguarding culture; and be the SLT lead for one of our Heads of School in our ‘smaller schools’ system. However, the specific portfolio for the successful candidate will be determined by the skillset, experience and attributes of the successful candidate. For us, getting the right person for our Academy and our team is our number one priority.

We are an ambitious, forward-thinking and inclusive 11-18 school in the picturesque village of Great Missenden in the heart of the Chilterns. We have just over 1000 students on roll including a successful and growing Sixth Form, in a spacious and attractive campus which provides purpose-built, subject-specific areas, tennis courts and extensive playing fields. The academy is fortunate to have a new building for the Sixth Form, English department and café; three new IT suites and a multi-million pound brand new sports centre opening this term. The Misbourne is the Careers Hub lead School for Buckinghamshire, awarded Careers Lead of Year (South) 2018 and is one of just three schools in the country to have been shortlisted for the Careers Excellence Awards 2019 - Best School.

In return, we can offer you:
  • Great students who want to learn and are a pleasure to teach
  • A strong team ethos, with caring colleagues
  • An opportunity to grow and develop your leadership skills and experience within a strong senior team
  • A culture of evidence-informed approach to school improvement, only implementing what we feel will make the biggest difference to the lives and

outcomes of our young people, mindful of staff workload and wellbeing
  • A genuine commitment to support your career development through a CPDL programme, described by Ofsted as ‘exemplary’, and more INSET

days than average
  • A highly-motivated and professional atmosphere where everyone strives for educational excellence in every lesson, every day
  • A learning environment which allows all students to flourish through mutual respect, kindness and a strong desire to achieve
  • A school that genuinely believes in supporting staff and student wellbeing
  • A two-week October half-term

We are a “harmonious school” (Ofsted 2017) and we want to attract the best staff and invest in them, as we see them as our most valued assets.
