Purpose of the role:
As an Assistant Farm Manager, you will:
Working closely with the Farm Management team, the Assistant Farm Manager will assist with managing, on a day to day basis, this company laying farm.
Reporting into the Farm Manager, the Assistant Farm Manager’s main responsibility is for the wellbeing and performance of the livestock, although this will by definition, extend to the up keep and appearance of the site as a whole.

Your key responsibilities as an Assistant Farm Manager will include:
  • Ensuring Assisting the Farm Manager in ensuring all aspects of managing the farm are met from in-take to depletion.
  • Ensuring the welfare of livestock, feed ordering, ventilation management, vaccination, record keeping etc. are met.
  • Collecting and grading of eggs produced on site.
  • Ensuring site maintenance whilst complying with both legislative and Avara Foods standards and maintaining accurate records.
  • Ensuring that high standards of animal welfare, hygiene and husbandry practice are maintained at all times.
  • Covering in the Farm Manager’s absence, supervising staff and third parties whilst on site, ensuring adherence to Health and Safety procedures.

What we are looking for:
  • NVQ/Diploma Level 3 in Poultry production or similar Agriculture qualification is desirable but full training will be given.
  • Previous livestock experience, not necessarily poultry but an excellent stock person.
  • Bird Husbandry.
  • Effective communication and people skills are essential.
  • Own transport is essential and to live within a commutable distance to the Farm.
  • Ability to carry out manual duties and ability to work with minimal supervision.
