Job OverviewWe have an exciting opportunity within the Mental Health and Learning Disabilities (MH&LD) Directorate to join our service as Assistant Director of Nursing Mental Health and Learning Disabilities. The successful candidate will assist the Director of Nursing, Quality & Patient Experience with the corporate agenda for Nursing; support the Director of MH&LD and Associate Medical Director MH&LD in leading the MH&LD Directorate.The post holder will provide professional and strategic leadership to Nurses and HCSWs within the Mental Health & Learning Disability Directorate. The post is pivotal in leading the Nursing workforce within MH&LD ensuring that safe, clinically effective care is delivered to patients by competent professionals. They will need to demonstrate strong and inspirational leadership and professional advice, enabling high quality patient centred services to be delivered to those who access services across the Health Board.Main duties of the jobThe successful candidate will have responsibility for a range of areas including quality, patient safety and implementation of Health Board policy and strategy. They will be key in contributing to the development of Nursing across the organisation, ensuring standards of practice are consistent. They will be key in the facilitation and leadership for others involved in service improvement projects, supporting them to achieve sustainable change.The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.Group discussions to be held on 03/10/2022.Interviews to be held on 04/10/2022.There will be stakeholder panels held for individuals successful at shortlisting, which will be undertaken through Microsoft Teams.Working for our organisationHywel Dda University Health Board is the planner and provider of NHS healthcare services for people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and its bordering counties. Our 11,000 members of staff provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services for around 384,000 people across a quarter of the landmass of Wales. We do this in partnership with our three local authorities and public, private and third sector colleagues, including our volunteers, through:- Four main hospitals: Bronglais General in Aberystwyth, Glangwili General in Carmarthen, Prince Philip in Llanelli and Withybush General in Haverfordwest;
- Seven community hospitals: Amman Valley and Llandovery in Carmarthenshire; Tregaron, Aberaeron and Cardigan in Ceredigion; and Tenby and South Pembrokeshire Hospital Health and Social Care Resource Centre in Pembrokeshire;
- 48 general practices (four of which are managed practices), 47 dental practices (including three orthodontic), 99 community pharmacies, 44 general ophthalmic practices (43 providing Eye Health Examination Wales and 34 low vision services) and 17 domiciliary only providers and 11 health centres;
- Numerous locations providing mental health and learning disabilities services;
- Highly specialised and tertiary services commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee, a joint committee representing seven health boards across Wales.
