You will be an art practitioner who is self-motivated and understands the nature of busy art studios. You will have experience of displaying work and be confident to support teachers and provide initial inductions such as how to use a sewing machine or heat press safely. You will have competent IT skills and knowledge of Word and Excel as well as good written and verbal communication skills.

You must be hard-working, enthusiastic, patient, flexible and willing to learn. You will be expected to work on your own initiative and also as part of the larger team.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

To support teachers and provide initial inductions such as how to use a sewing machine or heat press safely.

To maintain a clear, clean, safe environment for students to work in throughout the area.

To loan out equipment to students during lesson times.

To manage and sell fabrics and other specialist textiles resources to students.

To prepare specialist resources for Textiles and art lessons such as mixing of dyes etc.

To order and monitor art supplies in liaison with the Subject Leader.

To maintain art and textiles equipment (safety and electrical PAT testing, repairs etc).

To work with Subject Leaders and Director to maintain Health & Safety Red Files.

To support colleagues with the collection and distribution of BPrints.

To organise and monitor the storage of student work – past and present.

To oversee the collection of previous students’ work.

To maintain display areas in the classrooms, corridors and gallery areas. To support teams with the annual Art Show displays and event organisation.

To work with Subject leaders to maintain and update Google resources.

To contribute to teaching and learning meetings when appropriate.

To carry out any other duties that may be reasonably requested.
