Shires Vets are looking for an experienced or trainee Approved TB Tester (ATT) to join our experienced team of farm vets and testers. The role will primarily consist of statutory and private TB testing of cattle to APHA approved standards. You will be responsible for submission of all official documents relating to your tests, and will also assist with the maintenance of TB equipment within the practice. Additional tasks within the wider practice team may also be included in your role. Prior experience of this job would be preferable, but we are willing to take on a new trainee and will provide all necessary training and mentoring in house.

The Minimum Eligibility Criteria For This Role Are

  • a minimum age of 18 years
  • completion of satisfactory identification and basic Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) security checks before enrolment on the training. Candidates need to await the results of their DBS checks before commencing training and this needs to be considered by employers when recruiting potential candidates
  • to hold either:
  • three GCSEs or equivalent qualifications in Mathematics, English and in a Science subject or Food Production or
  • three years performance in a Government regulatory role e.g. Local Authority (LA) Inspector or Environmental Health Officer
  • to have a minimum of six months previous livestock handling experience

Your working week will consist of four days (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday), and will equate to 32 hours per week. Flexibility in start times and working hours is essential to accommodate our clients needs.
